Preheat oven to 350F
Mix together brown sugar, 1/2 cup butter, egg, buttermilk, and 1 tsp of root beer extract.
Add flour, baking soda, and salt.
Drop by teaspoons on greased cookie sheets.
Bake for 8-10 minutes until the edges begin to brown.
While baking, make the glaze by mixing the remaining ingredients. Keep the glaze warm in a double-boiler until the cookies are done.
Immediately after removing the cookies from the oven brush the glaze over them and allow them to cool.
Root beer extract is hard to come by locally, I had to resort to Amazon for some.
The glaze didn't combine well, try using a double-boiler or using a container you can place over a steamer to help mix things.
